French Berger Stool

A charming and well proportioned Tabouret de Traite Berger stool, used for milking. This primitive, folk style stool stands strong on 4 carved legs joined to a solid slab seat with wedged-through tenons. The simple, sturdy construction is typical of a working farm stool made for use rather than show and dates back to late 19th to early 20th Century. Signs of rudimental repair over the years to keep the structure solid all add to the brutalist charm. The perfect addition to a characterful children's room or family bathroom as a hop up.
